I have an accent?

RACHEL - Dear Family,

It was indeed wonderful to have been able to speak with Mom, Dad, Steven, Sheila, and Erika on Christmas day! Apparently I have an English accent, which I can't see how they think that but I'm OK with that ;) (It is not a strong British accent but it was totally noticeable when she started speaking!  Teresa did not have any accent for the record!)

Christmas Eve day began with street contacting in the morning till about 1:30 in the afternoon. Then we caroled for a member's neighbor who is 99 years old! They were amazed to here that I had a great uncle who lived to 103! We then had a lesson with Stephen Smith and Debbie with our Ward Mission Leader. It was a very nice lesson on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Spirit was there... I think he is waiting for this big moment when the Spirit will yell to him that this is true, but we have explained at great length that the Spirit doesn't communicate to us like that and so we are seeing him tomorrow and we'll see about the answer he receives! I had told Debbie that I had wanted a nativity that was made here in England but had not managed to find one and for a Christmas gift she gave Sister Suaybaguio and me our own nativities! It is sooo lovely and I'll be sending this home so watch out for it! The assistants to the President also stopped by to give me some more Christmas packages that weren't sent till later and I gladly accepted!

At 4pm we didn't have to proselyte anymore and went over to a member's home and had Christmas Eve Dinner with them. It was delicious and it was your typical Roast Dinner and classic Christmas pudding. Christmas Pudding is not real pudding but rather a fruitcake, so I graciously passed on that one. After dinner we were picked up by our Ward Mission Leader and his wife in Ward 2 and snuggled next to the fire with some popcorn and watched The Polar Express! That was one of the few movies we could watch during Christmas. That was a great evening and then went home.

On Christmas day we got to sleep in to 8am! Haha but I was surprised how my body has gotten use to waking up at 6:30am every morning so even though I was awake for those next few hours I stayed in bed cause I could! We opened our presents under the Christmas tree and I felt so loved! We then went over to a member family, the Mundays and spent Christmas day with them! We then were able to watch Toy Story 3!! I loved it! Then I got a wonderful phone call from my family! After that we went over to visit the Temple Missionaries and I was able to talk with Teresie then. It was sooo amazing to really speak with her and 30 minutes was not enough! She is so wonderful and I love her dearly! But we were able to have a really good conversation! That was the highlight to the day!

I am so happy that Sister Suaybaguio and I get to stay together for another transfer here in Chorley! Sister Suaybaguio and I have actually been having fevers and cold symptoms and have been recovering from these the past couple of days. But we are going to get back on our feet in full health in no time soon!

All in all it was a great Christmas this year and had wonderful memories from it! Thank you to all who sent parcels and letters! I love you all! I hope all is well!

Happy Christmas!

TERESA - Happy Christmas!

I had the BEST Christmas ever! It was an amazing time for us missionaries. First off we had our Christmas Tri-Zone Conference, the theme was Unity. I thought that was so smart of the mission to do at this time. With the merge and everything, the work has sometimes been thrown in all different directions! But it was helpful. We focused on how to begin teaching investigators from Preach My Gospel. Let me tell you, I'm going to read that more everyday of my mission! Because I want to become a Preach My Gospel missionary! Also at the conference Sister Daines, Sister Doyle, and I all sang “Angels We Have Heard on High”. We were all so nervous but it worked out, we got some good feedback so that's always a good sign, haha. Then we had this Christmas feast, it was so delicious!  And then they surprised us by showing us the movie Remember the Titans! It was a lot o fun! We then read a Christmas story about the 4th wise man and then packages were given out. And let me tell you, boy did I feel loved! I got sooo many packages, I felt so spoiled! I think only one other missionary got as many as I did! But thank you sooo very much for everyone who sent me something! I LOVED it all!! It was an amazing day :)

We went to Bishop Murray's home on 23 of December. His wife, Tina, is Swedish and that's when they have their Christmas Eve. It was an amazing dinner and I LOVE spending time with them in their home! They are just so fun and loving. But on our Christmas Eve, the 24^th , we went to Sister Julie Williams' home with the older missionary couple, Elder and Sister Ripplinger. It was a blast! The Williams' daughter Zooey, 19, is visiting and she is so great and totally funny! We had a great Christmas Tea! And then we went to the Christmas Eve Carol Service at the Stake Center. And of course, all us missionaries were asked to sing a song! We sang “Once in David's Royale City”. It went ok :) Then again, more people kept handing us little gifts. This ward is just sooo nice and generous!

Which brings us to Christmas day! We woke up and got ready and then opened all our gifties! What a fun time we had! Thank you again to everyone who sent something! It really made my Christmas that much more special, thank you! The Elders and us then went over to the Murray's again and watched Ice Age 3 and had a very tasty breakfast. Then they surprised us yet again with more presents from the ward! Geesh, the whole time I was thinking how spoiled us missionaries were!! Then we went to Clair and Lee Thomson's house and played Guitar Hero World Tour! It was totally awesome! Man, I hadn't played that game in ages! Then we went to Dennis and Avril Campbell's and they prepared an excellent Christmas Day Dinner for us all. And they also gave us stockings! She hand knitted me mittens! How nice! I've been really needing a pair too, and these are top quality made with love :) After that, we went to The Williams again and played board games while some of the missionaries talked on the phone. I was the last to speak and let me tell you, it was absolutely wonderful to talk to my family again! I don't think I realized how much I needed that. I talked to Mom, Dad, Steven, Sheila, and Erika first for about a half hour. (Already, not enough time! haha) It was great to hear them again and to get advice from them! I love you all so very much and I am sooo eternally grateful that every one of you is a part of my family! It would not be the same if even one of you were missing! Thank you so much for loving and supporting me in this experience!

Then, here comes the BEST part of the day..............talking to Rach!!!!! Man, that was everything to me to be able to do that! I love my sister so much and to be able to speak to her was unreal. It felt weird but at the same time it didn't, like we've never been apart. Talking with her helped me a lot to focus and try a lot harder on being a better missionary! Thank you so much Rach for inspiring me to be the best I can be! I love you!

After the phone calls, we all watched Toy Story 3 (which was amazing!). Let me tell you, we were all so worn out by the end of the day. I felt so loved by my Heavenly Father by Him giving me a loving and caring ward that takes care of their missionaries. I really felt like we were apart of their families that day. And also for giving me the best family ever back home and of course, Rach in Chorley! I love them with all of my heart and I know I am the person I am today because of their wonderful examples and influence to me. Thank you sooo much! I am so BLESSED!!

On Boxing Day, the day after Christmas, (big deal here in the UK) some of our Zone did service. Only 8 of us were there because others were too far away to come. We went to a Care Home. We shoveled and swept their driveways and car park and sang Christmas carols to the residents there. It was a lot of fun! You could see how much they enjoyed it by all the smiles on their faces and they were all singing along as well! It was a great feeling to know we brightened their day, even if it was just a little bit! And honestly, it took no time at all. So I encourage you all to try it some time, it is extremely rewarding! Then we went to Grant and Sara Campbell's for dinner. It was another Christmas feast! How wonderful!  And since it was Boxing Day, the rules are different again so we watched a bit of The Singles Ward! My all time favorite Mormon movie! What a good day :)

Yesterday, We had a Zone Development Meeting till noon, which was really good. We centered our teaching all on the Book of Mormon and how we can use it more in our teaching. It was, as always, really helpful!  Then we had a Zone Activity where we went to Burger King and then played Volleyball at the Church. Then we went out finding and had a lesson with Angie with the Shorts later that night! My oh my, what an exhausting fun few days it's been!

So we were ready and rearing to go! We are committed to being better missionaries and to find people! We are going to always look for ways to expand our teaching pool! Sis Daines and I are working on becoming Sacred Missionaries as well. My most lovely twin sissy sent me a copy of hers from her mission. And we just love it! It helps us and reminds us how we can be better always! I know that it is important to give it all you've got right now, because there won't be another time to do it.   Like what Rach said, "I don't want to look back on my mission and regret anything." I want to know that I gave it all I had and more and nothing less. I am ready to work!

A Family... almost!

RACHEL - Dear Family!!!!!

This past week has been sooo amazing!! I was so blessed and able to witness the baptisms of a family that we have been teaching this weekend! There was the mother Debbie, Jessica (11yrs), Kayleigh (10yrs) and Charlie (8yrs)! I love this family!  It was a remarkable experience and very humbling. This is only the beginning for them and they are all excited about the gospel! After the baptism, Debbie's husband, Stephen, has become interested in learning more about the Church and we taught him on Sunday. It went very well, he didn't accept a specific date but said he would get baptized if he knew it was true. Later that evening we went to the Christmas Concert that the Chorley ward put together and he felt the Spirit so strongly that he became emotional. I am so excited to think that when Stephen decides to take the steps towards baptism, that soon after they as a family will all be able to enter into the temple and to become a family for all eternity! This is experience is truly sacred to me and to think of how the Gospel will effect them for the rest of their lives brings tears to my eyes. Because they mean so much to me I pray so fervently that Heavenly Father will keep them safe from the adversary and that they will continue to strengthen their relationships with one another. They LOVE Family Home Evenings and have loved playing the game "Hide the Thing"! Haha I love being a missionary! Even with Christmas time coming, there is no place else I would rather be!

Also we had tea with Patricia! That's right, it was amazing and now she wants to be re-taught again and has started to come back to some of her friends in the church! We are having Christmas Eve Dinner with her and a member of the ward! I am starting to be able to see again the sparkle that she had in her eyes when she felt the Spirit. It made her truly beautiful. Thank you for those who prayed for her because it has been making a difference.

 This week has been the most beautiful one that I have seen so far in my life. I am very grateful to be serving here where my Heavenly Father knew I needed to meet and teach specific people! I thank those from the bottom of my heart who helped me get to where I am now. Thank you for the letters and love and I will talk to you soon! I will send pictures next week!

12 Days of Christmas

TERESA - Hello Familia!



So as you may have gathered, everything stayed the same for moves :) Thank goodness!!! I am in Dundee still and I LOVE it! That means I still have much to do here....and I'm ready for it :)



Aileen's C-section went according to plan and all is well! Little Benjamin is doing so well. He was even baby Jesus in our Ward Christmas Nativity play! Cute huh? Aileen can't be in water until 5 weeks and she said she wanted to be baptized as soon as possible. And since this moves is a 7 week one, I just might maybe be able to be here for it! Let's pray for it!!



The ward is taking good care of us here on Christmas. We are having breakfast and opening presents at the Bishop's (yay!) and then dinner at either the Campbell's or the Menzies (both amazing families!) and then phone calls, movie (Toy Story 3, we are all so excited!), and just relaxing! I can't wait!! But I do have to say that it still doesn't really feel like Christmas, you know? I kind of feel like, "What Christmas is this week? No way!" haha I guess it's because I'm not home with you guys or Rach doing the things we usually do. But that's OK :) It's just strange and unreal that it's here. But nevertheless, I am sooo stoked!



So the 12 days of Christmas is going really well......well, actually, not quite! So Sis Daines and I didn't expect it to be this hard! haha First off, Linda already thinks it's us and tried to get it out of us, and just for the record, I am a horrible liar! So even though I tried, pretty sure she totally knows! haha 

OK, Michelle.....wow her "12 Days" is really tough! She lives in a flat on the 3rd floor. The first day went OK, I just had to take off my shoes and pretty much jump down the stairs after knocking. And then the second day, I get ready to do the same thing and when I turn the corner to her flat door - what do I see but a dark figure standing by her door! Its totally dark in the stair wells. Michelle was out there smoking (we are still working with her on that) and I just panicked and got out of there. I ran to the bottom floor outside where Sis Daines was. Sis Daines asked me what happened, when I came back down with the oranges still in my hand. I told her that I wasn't going to do that again and she would have to just go up there and chuck them at her! haha As we were talking/freaking out about this we hear a squeak and we look up and there is Michelle poking her head out of the stair well window! She said, "What are you doing?", but in a way that I don't think she knew who we were. So Sis Daines ran in and threw the oranges at her and we bailed. Oh my goodness! 5 more days of this?! We definitely need to cover the Word of Wisdom again with her :)



We've been going around giving members our special Christmas message that we made! And the reaction has been wonderful! Everyone has loved it so far :) So if I still remember it next Christmas I will share it with you guys! But for now, you will just have to wait in joyful anticipation :) haha



We aren't really teaching any investigators right now but we are looking through the list of potentials and formers and going by them and asking if we can visit with them again. And also Angie Short (the Short's  granddaughter) is back and should be clean so hopefully we
will be able to teach her again and set a baptismal date! We will see her tonight, so we are hopeful about things to come!

Birth or Rebirth?

TERESA - Hi ya Family!

Ok, so life has been filled with busy goodness! haha. A lot has happened and to be honest some of it has been kind of a bummer but not to worry, all will work itself out!

Aileen was not able to be baptized this past Sunday. But for a very good reason! She went into the doctor's on Friday and found out that she needed to have an emergency section. The baby came only a week earlier then what was scheduled. It is a baby boy and they named him Benjamin! He is still in intensive care so we are hoping and praying that he will be ok. So this means that her baptism won't be until a while later. So I probably won't be able to see it :( But hopefully, if moves works in my favor, I'll be here forever and then I will! Haha Seriously though, I LOVE it here in Dundee! I love the people here so much and would hate to leave them all right before Christmas, let alone at all! I look back at the moves call where I felt a little disappointed I was staying and I think I was crazy! I'm so grateful that my Heavenly Father is letting my stay here! Fingers crossed I'll be here still after this upcoming moves. We get our call on Wednesday night and move on Friday. So hopefully I'm not finished here yet! I personally don't think I am :)

Michelle our less-active is progressing sooo well! Honestly, I am seriously impressed with her progress! She is a wonderful woman and I am so honored I get to help her back on track. But to tell you the truth, she has been teaching us lately! She is starting to read her scriptures regularly and write down scriptures that really mean something to her at the time. I am just so proud of her! Every time we visit her, it just gets better and better! And it all started to shift this way when we made the Book of Mormon the main focus. AS we have read out of that book with her, her heart has been made softer and softer. I know that the Book of Mormon can literally change lives for good. I am seeing it happen right now on my mission! I know that if anybody reads that book with a sincere heart and with real intent they will receive a peace and happiness that they can get nowhere else. I mean that! And I am not afraid to make that promise! Because I know it to be true!! My love for the Book of Mormon has grown tremendously since I've been out and I am beginning to truly understand how essential it is to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have learned to not to trivialize the Book of Mormon by trying to answer all their questions myself. That book has the answers and all I'm supposed to be is a tour guide. So that is what I'm trying to be!

Unfortunately, Derek, the one man that we found completely by the Spirit, has told us he is too busy to learn at the moment. But even when he told us that, I wasn't as sad as I thought I'd be. It's just that I know that it's not going to be over with him. I know that even if he isn't ready now for us to teach him (that is the bummer!), I do know that he will be ready later. I really do. Because after all those little miracles leading us to find him, I just know it's going to happen with him. So even if it can't happen now, I rest at ease knowing that everything will be all right. So no worries, we will find somebody who's ready now!

We are also going to do the 12 Days of Christmas starting today for Michelle and Linda (she's another less-active). I really hope this will brighten their spirits and will help them see that they are loved and thought of this Christmas season! So I encourage everyone to one this Christmas for someone or just give a little treat to someone who you think needs it. Because odds are if you think they need it, then they really do.

Christmas is kind of up in the air at the moment. We don't even really know where we will be that day! And the thing is with our mission is that they usually don't let us know about anything until the day before! So that can get kind of crazy, but we'll see. But I do know that I HAVE to speak to Rach! There will be no way that that's not happening! Haha So I'm going to talk to President about that for sure!

Well I love you family! And I'm sorry I haven't written all of you! I feel sooo bad about that, but it's a lot harder then I thought it would be to find time! Ahhhhh! Haha So do not take it personally if you don't hear from me personally for a while! Just know that I love you!!!
