On the lookout for Investigators...

TERESA - Dear Family,

A turn for the worse?? What's that mean? Is he going to be alright?? I will definitely fast and pray for him. I hope that all will go well.....I don't even know what to say. I thought he was doing better, this makes me really sad to hear this. But all we can do is pray. I know that Heavenly Father loves us and that it will all work out somehow or another. Please let me know ho he is doing. Thank you!

So this week nothing has really happened unfortunately. But I did get your birthday package! Thank you! And I got a few birthday cards from the home ward so thank you to everyone who's written Rach and I birthday wishes! It's weird because it doesn't even feel like my birthday's on Wednesday or that I'm going to be turning 22. That is absolutely mental to write! This morning we had a meeting with the missionaries and a member of the Stake Presidency and they surprised me with a little cake and singing to me! haha That was really nice of them :)

We weren't able to meet with T. M. last week due to things that came up but we are meeting with him on Wednesday (my birthday!) and so that will be good. Also Brother C. came for his brother's funeral and I am definitely sorry for his loss. I hope him and his family are doing well in this harder time. I was disappointed that I didn't get to see Brother C. though. He was in Falkirk so he would've attended the ward there. But when he comes back home, let him know I was thinking of him :)

We are still on the look out for investigators. It's been tough. We are going to try to get more creative with our finding instead of just chapping the whole time. That's what we do ALL the time: chapp. Not bad, but it's nice to teach people every once in a while! haha It's totally OK though. I would much rather teach someone who's ready then to teach someone just for the sake of teaching someone you know? So it's all good. :)

Tomorrow we have a Tri-Zone Conference in Aberdeen so that should be fun. I am really looking forward to that! I LOVE meetings! I know that may sound strange but I love them. So it's a really good "birthday present" for me, haha. Also next Tuesdays is going to be a Zone Development. So how great is that! We are all going to go to the Edinburgh Dungeons so that will be a good activity for sure. Sister Peterson and I were going to go this week to celebrate my birthday and her leaving but the zone wanted to do it so we are waiting another week.

We are really trying to focus on the ward here in Edinburgh. There are lovely people here but we are really tying to build a better bridge between the missionaries and them. So we are making a much greater effort to meet with all of our members at least once a moves (6 weeks). Also, Sister Peterson and I presented the ward bulletin board picture thing  and they are all for it! So that way, all the members in the ward will know who are their fellow members. I loved it in our home ward so I know It'll do great here :)

But other than that it is just searching. By the way, do any return missionaries have any different ideas of finding techniques that they used in their missions? Or heard of anything that has worked well for them? I don't mind tracting but it isn't always too effective. So any ideas would be great!

Well I love you all and I'm praying for you. I'm sending pictures your way so you can post some up because the computers are not liking me here haha.
Love Always, Sister Teresa Kullick

Amazing Investigator & Zone Conference

RACHEL -Dear Family,
Why do you feel that Grandpa has taken a turn for the worst? I thought you said he was recovering and doing well? Please let me know and keep me updated.

Here in Stafford we currently have two progressing Investigators and one them is a YSA (age26). His name is S.C., he is amazing! Every commandment we have taught him he has accepted instantly and has turned to Heavenly Father in prayer for strength and the scriptures as well. He has rearranged his entire work schedule so that he can attend church regularly. He has expressed to us many times that he knows that this gospel is true and that Joseph did see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. We feel so blessed to be apart of his conversion process!

We are still trying to build up our teaching pool here in Stafford and be better in our finding. We held a fireside last night where S.C. was able to attend and got to know more members! We are excited for him. I am just very grateful that I have the opportunity to serve with Sister Dell, she helps me recommit myself everyday to be better and has such a great sense of urgency! We recognize the areas that we need to be better in and we both try to help each other improve which has greatly increased our unity. It is her Birthday today (2/21) and already the members have given us cards and flowers for both our Birthdays, it is very kind of them.

We had Zone conference this last week and it was always amazing. President Bullock spoke on prayer and they announced that the new Mission President has already been called. I was actually really sad to hear the reality of how close the end is... and how I would've really loved to end my Mission with President and Sister Bullock, they have really changed my life and have seen me grow firsthand. Because of the culture they have created in this mission it has changed my life and helps me to understand that I need to always continue to strive to be better and to become like Christ. But I know that the Lord knows better than me and knows I can learn something from a new Mission President my last few transfers.

I am grateful for all the love that has been given and support for Teresie and I. I know that Joseph Smith did see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, that they both live today as two separate beings. I know that God still calls Prophets to the earth and that the prophet's name today is Thomas Monson. Oh how thankful I am to be a part in this great work! I love you all and I love you Grandpa with all the energy that I possess!

One Really Cool Experience

TERESA - Hello Hello!
Thank you so very much for my Valentine's Day Card!! I LOVED it! Also, I wanted to thank dad for his letter that he wrote me a little while back. I really needed it at that time, everything he said in it was exactly what I needed to hear at that point in time. Thank you so very much for that dad :)

So life here is starting to roll forward a tad which is good :) Nothing much happened this past week but one really cool experience. Here is is...

Background: Before my mission a Brother C from my homeward, gave me a notebook with a list of names in it. People to get in contact with. Now some of these people were in Edinburgh and Falkirk (there are no sisters in Falkirk though) and even when I was in Dundee for half my mission, I knew I was going to serve in Edinburgh, so I held onto the names. Well, here I am in Edinburgh!

At weekly planning (Thursday) we didn't have anybody to plan for really, zip investigators. Sister Peterson knew I had the list and suggested that we look into the names that I received from Brother C. We looked and there were only 4 names. One was already a member and two were his sister and brother-in-law that lived in Falkirk. And the last name was Brother C's sister's son who is a lawyer in Edinburgh and goes to London 3 times a week. So we thought why not, and phoned him up. It was kind of funny because it was kind of strange! Phoning someone up that you don't know, I mean. I introduced myself and told him that I knew his uncle. His name was T. M. and he was more than polite to us on the phone. I asked if he was a member as well and he said no (Yay! haha) So we set up a time we could meet with him and he was more than happy to do that. He said it wouldn't be hard to miss him cause he was bald!

We met him at a coffee shop and we see a man who fits his description, older, bald, but it wasn't him! (Oops!) So we sit waiting for him. He comes in and we sit down and learn a little bit more about his family and job, etc. He was a really nice person. Then we asked if he knew much about the church and he said no but asked if we could tell him! It was an amazing 1st lesson, really flowed and natural-wasn't forced. And the Spirit was so strong that we had all forgotten we were in a coffee shop! He was super receptive and very nice. He said he understood the concepts of Prophets and that it made sense but that the thing was just recognizing it. We told him that if he really wanted to know the truth he could through prayer. We gave him a pamphlet and a Book of Mormon and he even offered to pay for it! We showed him Moroni's promise and he said, "Could you mark that chapter for me? I want to read it later." Wow, how great! We set up a return appt at the church building for this upcoming Wednesday (he was the one who said that a coffee shop was not the most appropriate place to meet) When we walked out of there we were just soooo happy! There is seriously no one happier than a missionary who just left a a really good lesson! He also told us that Brother C's brother had died and his funeral was the Thursday after our appt. So maybe Brother C will come for the funeral and we will be able to see him and maybe he could be there for a teach! who knows...but that would be so nice :)

I am so grateful for Brother C for giving me those names! There are very few members of his family that are a part of the church so he's fulfilling his part as a missionary! And even if T doesn't get baptized, he will still have a better knowledge of what the church is and believes and what makes his uncle happy. So that was a wonderful experience! So I encourage ALL of you to invite your friends or family or anyone to learn more about the gospel! Who knows...they may be ready RIGHT now and all they are waiting for is an invitation to learn.

I may need to send you a CD with picts on it because something is just not working! Sorry! I LOVE you all sooo much and I am extremely happy about the progress Grandpa is making!! I love you guys so much! Love always, Sister Teresa Kullick

Many Miracles

RACHEL - Dear Family,

I am so happy to hear how Grandpa Coombs is doing! Let him know that I am praying for him every night that he will have a quick recovery and that he is feeling well! Keep me updated!

Tell Sheila I wish her a Happy Birthday! And Happy Birthday to Teresa as well! Haha!

This past week has truly been amazing! All I can say is wow! Sister Dell and I have witnessed many miracles! Golden Investigators, Solid Appointments, members coming to our investigator lessons and teaching on-the-spot opportunities! I can't express enough in words how important it is and key when members volunteer to go out fellowshipping with the missionaries. It is sooo important for the individuals themselves who are being taught the Gospel to have a potential friend there to help them throughout their conversion! What an amazing feeling it is when you then can be able to witness the baptism of a friend instead of just someone who was being taught by the missionaries. This is a beautiful commandment that our Heavenly Father has given us and by fulfilling this commandment we feel on top of the world! So help your missionaries, you have been commanded in this dispensation to help build the Kingdom!

With all of these miracles I feel completely inadequate. I recognize that I must always keep improving and that I should not become complacent or start to slow down. I want to continue to keep running hard even after the finish line.  I have come to know that I really just love this work and feel privileged that I can play such a tiny part in this Big Beautiful Plan. I have also come to recognize the importance of always remembering who we represent.  That we as Latter-day Saints should always remember whose name we took upon ourselves at baptism, it is like we are all literally wearing a badge and it should be that obvious to others what we know to be true and what brings us happiness. If we are not different from the world then we need to step back and reevaluate our priorities and strengthen our testimonies because it is a really good thing to be different from the world.

I am so grateful and feel humbled to wear Christ's name on my chest visibly for the whole world to see but I recognize that we can still be visible disciples of Christ even though we aren't wearing a badge. "Every member a missionary!"

I am so thankful for the help and support I receive from my family and ward family at home and thank them from the bottom of my heart.
Love you all!

Small Stafford!

RACHEL - Hello family!
Thank you for telling me and keeping me updated about Grandpa and tell Grandma not to worry because I will make sure that the work I participate in here will not suffer.

The last week I was in Chorley we were able to be blessed to have a baptism of a 22-year-old young man named Keith Tasker! He was Golden! There was a teacher from the England MTC that met him at university and taught him and he desired to be baptized, so when we "taught" him he was already very prepared and now wants to serve a mission! How beautiful is that! Sister Suaybaguio and I were able to witness many miracles in Chorley, but now I am excited to see them take place here in Stafford!

Stafford is quite a small town, but everything is very spread out. I am in a branch and I counted how many people were in Sacrament meeting last Sunday and there were about 32 people. It just made me realize how the Gospel really is the same everywhere no matter how many members there are and where ever you are. I am excited to help strengthen and increase the saints here in the Stafford Branch!

Sister Dell is amazing! We get along great with each other and her Birthday is on the 21st of February 1989! Haha So we are going to have a great time celebrating our birthdays with each other two days apart! She was born in South Africa but has grown up in British Columbia, Canada. She likes photography, plays Rugby, and has a very strong testimony in the Gospel.

We were blessed to be able to gain this past couple of days an investigator with a baptismal date on the 26 of February (that will be a wonderful Birthday gift!)! His name is Peter Davis and we are excited to see him progress! We also have two YSA investigators too this past week and they are amazing! We are in a bus/walking area until the 1st of March because our car is going to be used by a new Senior Missionary Couple here in the mission. So we know that many miracles will come from this!

It has been very windy here this past week, which can make it quite chilly at times but nothing compared to last winter :)

I am so grateful for the England Manchester Mission and the most profound love that I have developed for the work I have been called to do! I have an increased desire to be more urgent and to try to be as diligent as I can!

I have been able to gain a firm testimony these past few days of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, but specifically on the Resurrection. Soon our mortal tabernacles will be perfect... not subject to diseases, illnesses, or accidents anymore. I know everything will be made right. This life is but a small moment so we must do all we can to become like Christ, which has been difficult for me, but I am always striving. But I know we can become perfect because He has asked us to but we must be patient with ourselves. I am so grateful for my family, for their loving words and support, thank you! I am also grateful for my ward family as well and the love that they send to Teresa and I! Love you all!
Love always, Sister Rachel Kullick

Last of the Chorley Pics

Gorgeous Edinburgh!

TERESA - Hi Family,

So life is going swell over here! I am getting along wonderfully with my new companion! Sister Peterson is so great and we are already pallies :) She goes home in 6 weeks so I am bummed about that and I have no idea how I'll lead this city without her! Haha we shall see....

I am learning to love the people of Edinburgh. It's tough when you've come from a ward that you considered home. Seriously though, I consider Dundee 2nd my home ward! I LOVE the people of Dundee and I am trying to spread that love to the people here too. The Edinburgh ward is smaller than Dundee's but they are still nice. It was Fast and Testimony meeting so I quickly got up and introduced myself to the ward. I am totally excited to serve here though and I'm determined to make it great. I am excited to help this ward become more missionary-minded and enthused about missionaries. It's funny because when I came here it was like when I first went to the Dundee 2nd Ward. They were a little behind in the work as well. But I have seen the change and progression take place in Dundee so I know it's possible here too! I am looking forward to using the same ideas that worked in my last ward. This will be good. There is MUCH to look forward to. I am ready for this challenge!

The city though is gorgeous! A lot easier on the eyes than Dundee I do have to say! (Great place but not that nice to look at! haha) But funny story, we were on the bus talking to some guy and it was brought up that I had been serving in Dundee for the past 9 months. And he disgustedly said that Dundee was a dump and that Edinburgh was better. And I must say that I was offended! Haha It may be somewhat of a dump but it's my dump! I didn't hesitate in the least bit to stand up for my "birthplace" in the mission! I thought that it was amusing so I wanted to tell you. But I have loved walking outside and seeing the beautiful buildings everywhere, I LOVE city life so this is right up my alley. And you know what's funny? Everyone before the mission said, "Don't expect to see a lot of people and city, you'll be in the countryside with the sheep." haha They couldn't have been MORE wrong! I have been in very heavily populated areas my WHOLE mission! I haven't seen sheep, not yet anyways.... :)

I really want to send you pictures, I have sooo many of them. But the computers are being lame and I can't send any! Ahhhhh! But I will do it as soon as I can. Maybe I'll just send you a CD with the pictures on it and then you can take them from there. We'll see.

I am sooo very glad to hear that Grandpa Coombs is doing a bit better. I have been praying for him EVERY night. I know that everything will be ok one way or another. I have been really comforted lately so oddly enough I don't feel too worried anymore. Heavenly Father has REALLY been helping me out. Thank goodness!

Well, I don't really have much more to fill you in on. We don't have any investigators at the moment so we are going work on that. And we are really trying to focus on our relationship with the members so there is quite a bit we need to work on. But it will be good!

But I love you all and I am so thankful for all that you guys have done for me. I pray that all will go well back home.
Love Always, Sister Teresa Kullick

Staffordshire County

RACHEL - Hello family,

It was very hard for me to read that email you sent to me Mom and I honestly didn't want to respond to it because I couldn't control the tears that were beginning to flood from my eyes. I hope you let him (Grandpa Coombs) know how much I love him and how I hope he is OK. It pains me to think how trapped he must feel. The day after I found out, I was able to speak to my Mission President and told him all about it. He was very sincere and kind as he spoke to me about what had just happened. I have still cried every night that week as I prayed to my Father in Heaven. I hope that you are doing OK Mom and that your siblings are OK as well. I wish I could see him and what pains me the most is that after my mission he won't be able to talk to me to see who I have become... someone that I think he would be proud of. I am going to miss hearing him sing and his laughter and to just be able to speak to him. I just hope he is OK and that Grandma is too. I hope everyone is visiting him and being there for him during this time of his life. Please let him know that I love him with all of my heart and that I hope he knows I am trying to be the best I can be on my mission. It is hard to hold back the tears that fill my eyes every time I think of him and how I pray that he is feeling OK.

I have moved from Chorley and I am now in Staffordshire County (Stafford) with Sister Dell, she is from Canada. She is one transfer behind me. Before I left Chorley we had a miracle baptism where we were able to baptize a 22 year old man, Keith Tasker in a week - beautiful. He had a testimony before we even "taught" him and was taught by his friend who worked at the MTC here in England. I feel so blessed to be a small part of it, but I know one thing is for sure "The lord doesn't always bless us in our efforts, but for our efforts."  And that "success is not measured by our results but for our efforts and heart.” I love you all and I am sorry this is short, but I don't have much to say but that I hope Grandpa is better, please let me know.
Love you all, Sister Rachel Kullick

Baptism & Move!

TERESA - Hey ya!!

Ok, big news!!! Aileen was baptized!!!!! And I got to be there and give a talk at it!! Oh my goodness, my heart is just overcome with joy and gratitude right now!! I am sooo happy! I know that Heavenly Father wanted me to be there for it! I feel just so grateful I can't even begin to express in words how really happy I am!!! I didn't think I would see it but I did. When Aileen found out that moves call was on Sunday night she said OK, then I'll baptized on Saturday and then confirmed on Sunday. That made me feel so loved and special!! Knowing that she wanted me to be there meant everything to me! But I'll tell you, the adversary tried to do all he could to prevent this from happening. It all happened the day of and before. Things were going wrong with printing the programs. People were dropping like flies that were supposed to be participating. We were phoning everyone we could think of to fill the place of a pianist. We started filling up the font and the water was freezing (not really preventative but still bad). And lastly, we totally left the baptismal dresses on the bus! Noooooo! Sister Daines and I were complete messes! All this happened with only an hour before the baptism! But considering all of these set backs we handled things pretty well :). We were just praying super hard that everything would pan out and we were doing everything we could think of to fix it all! Haha Well in the end everything went better than perfect and Aileen was baptized! Nothing on earth could've stopped it from happening, Satan tried but it didn't work. HA! Tee-hee.
When something really good is going to happen that's when the most opposition comes. But I learned even more during this experience that if you trust in Heavenly Father then you'll be OK. Really. I know that it had to happen. I am sooo thankful and happy!!

Also, we had the fireside that Sister Daines and I put on for the ward on Sunday. (This was probably the busiest/stressful weekend of my mission!) But it all went really well; things ran fairly smoothly, which was good. People really enjoyed it though. We had a lot of people tell us that they really loved it and that other wards should do it as well. And that they wanted to do it again soon! And one YSA, who had been struggling lately, said that that was just what he needed and that he wants to come back to church!! My goodness! How wonderful :) It was really special. Which leads us to moves call...

I got my moves call and I'm leaving Dundee. After 9 months of being in my first area with 3 different companions I am leaving. It feels sooo strange. Dundee was my home and I do miss it. I REALLY miss the people there. I had to say goodbye last night to Aileen and the Shorts and it just about killed me! I have grown to love them all so VERY much and now that I 'm leaving them and won't see them anymore it is completely depressing. So now I am sitting in a computer cafe in Edinburgh! I have been moved here and I am LOVING it so far though! I still feel like I'm visiting and I will go back to my home in Dundee but I guess that's not going to happen. Sister Daines is training a new missionary (we have 6 new sisters!) and I am killing off a missionary here. Her name is Sister Peterson and she is so fun. She is super chilled out and totally nice! I am glad I get to serve with her, even if it is just for one moves (6 weeks!). But that means that I will HAVE to learn the area super well in this short amount of time and then lead the area!! Crazy! And believe me, this is no Dundee. Dundee was dinky compared to this! But I am so excited to be here. I really feel that my time was finished in Liff, Dundee. I felt that I had accomplished all I needed to at this time there and that it was time to move on. I knew it when I barely scrapped by to be at Aileen's baptism. There was a reason why it was just before; it was because I was leaving.

Honestly I miss Harry and Sandra Short so much. I truly love them both with ALL of my heart! They were truly my family here and I don't know how I'm going to handle not being able to see them anymore. It will be tough. As well as with Aileen. That was a really tough/tearful goodbye as well. I love her more than ever and thinking about her even now, I miss her! I had really grown to love the people here in the Dundee 2nd Ward. This may sound corny but it is so true that I may be here but my heart is still in Dundee. I miss them all so dearly. They were wonderful people and I will NEVER forget them all. They have made a huge impact on my life and I have learned so much from serving them. I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for giving me the opportunity to be there and serve there. I will always remember them. Always :)

So today I am in Edinburgh with Sister Peterson and Sorensen (she’s waiting on her new comp from Belfast and she is amazing!) and we had an amazing day so far going to Mary King's Close. It is an old underground city where people with the Black Plague would go. Fun huh?! I had a blast! And my church building is right next to the mission home too so I will see a lot of President and everyone else! I am so excited to be here. I always had a feeling I'd come here but I just didn't know when. This is just so great!

But anyways, I must leave you now but I am glad to hear all is going better over there. I have fasted and prayed for Grandpa and I feel A LOT better about it now. I feel comforted. I know that Heavenly Father is so aware of me and my family and that HE loves us. I am thankful for that. I love you all and I will talk to you soon!! Love you!
Love always, Sister Teresa Kullick
