TERESA - Hi family!

I am not excited to go back home; I'm not going to lie. As the end of my mission approaches I am getting more and more nervous! I really love all you guys but I don't want to leave my mission yet. It's funny how simple life has become while serving. You don't have to worry about anything else but the gospel and your investigators, etc. But I hope when the time comes I'll be ready? Ha-ha

By the way mom, are your glasses 1.50 or 2.00 prescription? Can you let me know? Thanks!! And thank you soooo much for the book!! (I sent them each the Mormon Mission Spoof on Dr. Suess' Green Eggs and Ham.) I LOVE it! It is the bestest ever. Sister Baxter and I read it frequently! hehe Thank you!

Ok, this week, golly gee, I can't even remember the start of it! The weather was really raining so that really cut into our finding efforts!  But anyway what’s been happening... The progress with M.C. is a ton better. We prayed about it and talked with Bishop and we moved some lessons around and those weird empty feelings have gone! We still have no idea what it was but we're glad it's no longer an issue :).  She still has a baptismal date but we will have to push it back because she didn't go to church this Sunday. Nooo! But no worries, we are going to teach the importance of the Sabbath and church this week.

We also had a lesson with Brother R. H., our recent convert, and Sister B., a member of 5 years. It was great because we talked about how to study the scriptures by applying them to you personally. It's funny cause since it's natural for me to always do that it was weird to see people that don't do that. And because of that, they get nothing out of the scriptures - crazy! So we went over Lehi's Vision and helped them apply it to them. It was a whole lot of fun!

Things with K. are going well. We had her at church yesterday! It was so good! We have her praying right now on baptismal date because every time we try to schedule one for her she feels pushed. So it's all in the works :) We will also be giving her the smoker's clinic so we are excited for that as well.

Since it was so rainy we got totally soaked this week. So on Saturday we were on our way back to our flat and right as we were walking on the sidewalk a car comes zipping around the corner and drives into this HUGE puddle. Yup, you guessed it; we were dripping from head to toe! It was a total movie moment right there ha-ha. I felt like I was on a water ride I was THAT soaked! We were laughing SO hard!! It was way too funny :)

Since we've been told by all our priesthood leaders (i.e. members of the area presidency and seventy) that our focus should be on members we have really been doing that. We have been getting to know loads more members and they are the best! I am loving the East Kilbride Ward. They are amazing and hilarious! I know that as we develop a better relationship and trust with them that the work will progress. Among my many favorites are the Lang's, McNally's, and Munro/Cook's! They have been super wonderful to us since I've been here, gosh I love 'em! ha-ha

Oh and guess what? Church on Sunday was very eventful. We went into YW's and talked about the missionary schedule and how we decided to go on missions (so fun!) and then we taught gospel principles like always, and then I gave a talk in Sacrament meeting! It was so exciting! I spoke on one of my FAVORITE topics: Our Loving Heavenly Father. People said they enjoyed it so that's good! To be honest it is a really easy subject to speak on and so that makes it easier as well!

I'm hopefully going to send a package soon with loads in it for people and my photos from Edinburgh, so be on the look out for that too! Thank you so much again for everything. I love you guys so much and I pray for you every night! Your sacrifices for us to serve have been absolutely incredible. Thank you for making this happen. I love you!

Tripped mid sentence

RACHEL - Dear Family and friends,

This week started off really good. I have a tendency to run with joggers when I see them and to share the gospel with them. I have had some pretty great quality gospel conversations before! Well, on Monday I tried to attempt to run with this young man. Everything was great until I fell flat on my face! ha ha I had tripped in mid sentence. Needless to say that stopped my conversation with this jogger. My knees hurt a little bit but I couldn't help but laugh afterwards because it was a great memory I knew I would cherish forever :)

Last Tuesday we had an amazing Specialized Training! We were trained on Weekly Planning and Nightly Planning. It was phenomenal! I loved the trainings that we also had with Finding. We focused more on handling objections and getting the appointment. I really did learn quite a lot and have already begun to apply it into the missionary work. I have already used a lot of responses of handling objections that we had suggested by all of our leaders and Mission President and they have turned out to be really good conversations where the other person begins ponder a little more about our message instead of just brushing us off. We have also completely changed and rearranged the way we do Weekly Planning to be more efficient for our Nightly Planning. It has been a difficult transition but we know that our leaders are inspired. It has been exciting doing it a little differently from the past year but now I can understand more the expression "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" ha ha I know it is not impossible though because I am doing it slowly and surely!


We were able to have 4 of our Investigators come to church yesterday which was wonderful! We had really tried hard to make it more of a focus and give more effort in having members present at Investigator lessons. This resulted in calling quite a lot of Sisters in the Ward. Because of that, our Investigators already knew some people at church and felt more welcome and comfortable. I am very grateful for the service from the members. It is good to know that we are all in this together and that it is a joint effort. Sometimes members aren't given a chance to help because they have never been asked. I suppose that's why it is really helpful for the Missionaries when members actually go up to their Full-time Missionaries in their ward and let them know they are available. Because we all are available even if just for an hour, we should always have time for the Lord's work and His representatives here on earth. This has made me think about the type of member I was before my mission and the one I want to be after. I had tons of free time and yet I could've actually done something productive and shown the Lord I actually cared by sharing the gospel with all of my brothers and sisters and helped out the missionaries.

I was able to go on an exchange with Sister Babbel this week and we had an amazing 48 hours full of miracles! I don't know if you remember but Sister Babbel was Teresa's companion in the MTC. It was actually quite funny because we were suppose to exchange right after Specialized training on Tuesday but no one had informed Sister Gallozo and I that we were exchanging. So when I went up to Sister Babbel's companion who was my old companion (Sister Suaybaguio from the Philippines) and said when are we going to have exchanges with each other she replied right now. I laughed because I thought she was joking but ha nope she wasn't. So we did it the following morning. It was a great exchange though! One day we had 33/7 in QGC's and Appointments! She is very comfortable when she teaches and she has polished teaching skills as well. She teaches to the "You". She was a great example to me of just simply talking to people anywhere and to not fear. We recognized that this would be the only time where we would ever serve together considering we came out at the very same time, but it was great to share what we have both learned during the time we have been out in the Mission field.

Manchester Mission Conference

RACHEL - Dear Family!

I hope everyone is well and doing great! It is a great time to be a missionary and I am grateful for my calling! This past Monday, our Zone got together and we had a BBQ and played football! Needless to say I was the only Sister playing with all of the Elders but it was still a great time! Although, my body really ached for a couple days after and that was a good indicator to tell me I am lacking in my endurance which I desperately need as a missionary! That Monday evening, we had the Lancaster Sisters come to sleep over in our flat for the Mission Conference the next day. One of the Sisters was my old companion, Sister Dell and it was great to see her and catch up with her :) In the England Manchester Mission, we are so blessed to have such wonderful and hard working Sisters!

That Tuesday half of our mission got together and we heard from Elder Packer of the Seventy and his wife. That was wonderful because Elder Packer just had a Question and Answer Session the entire time he spoke, I loved it! President Bullock spoke about the Holy Ghost which was great as always. I have been able to feel so much power from the basics that only comes from the plain and precious truths of the gospel. I was a great time to listen to a General Authority. As I met with Sister Packer, she said she was going to the Scotland/Ireland Mission next and so she asked me if there was anything I wanted her to say to Teresa from me. I just gave her a BIG hug and asked her to send that on to my Sister! Hopefully, Teresa got it ;)

We have a wonderful Investigator that we are teaching right now named H.! She is golden! She is a mother of three children who have all grown up and are out of the house. For one appointment we were going to teach her the Plan of Salvation (Bacon and Eggs style) but when we began to speak to her at the beginning of the lesson Sister Gallozo and I both felt impressed to watch the Restoration DVD with her. She was so moved by the Spirit at the end of it, she was in tears. When we asked her what she felt, she gave the most unique and unexpected response I have ever heard as a missionary. She said that the feeling she had was difficult to describe but that it was like how she felt as she looked down at her baby that had just been born for the first time. She explained she felt truth as she watched it. She gave a prayer at the end of the lesson and prayed that the whole world could feel this same way too! Wow! I am so blessed to be able to witness so many miracles of lives being changed and touched by the Spirit of the truthfulness of the gospel. I hope I always remember how I felt in that lesson.

We were able to have 5 New Investigators this past week which we are excited to see them progress! We were able to teach a Less Active man who hasn't been to church for 20 years. He expressed how ever since he left the church he has never been as happy as he was when he was living God's commandments. He gave us, Sisters a call to begin to teach him again and to help him come back to church. Last Sunday was the first Sunday in a long time for him, but he loved it! Just looking at him, it is a testimony to me that it is never too late to come back or to change no matter how far down the line we may feel, Heavenly Father wants each one of us to come back into His presence. I am grateful to be a member of the Only True Church on earth. I am grateful for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ restoring the Whole truth back again on the Earth. No matter what persecutions we may receive, it does not negate the fact that this is still true, no matter how had Satan tries. We the Latter-Day Saints must be the living witnesses that there is a Christ and that God does live. I know this is true, I know it is.

Scotland Zone Conference

TERESA - Hello Family!

I would first like to start off by saying how much I love you two. Mom, Dad, you are important to me and I thank you for all the love and support you give me. I just want to make sure you don't think otherwise! I would have to be a complete fool not to see that! It's like what you always say dad, “Look at their motives”. And let me tell you I have really learned to implement that on my mission. Thank you so much for teaching me that lesson growing up, I needed that. So I know with ALL of my heart that you both love me and I love you.

This week has been great! On May 11 (wed) we had a Scotland wide Zone Conference! Elder Allen F. Packer of the Seventy was there! We were all to shake his and Sister Packer's hand at the start of the meeting. Sister Packer gave me a hug instead and said "this is from your sister." She had been at the Manchester Mission the day previous and met Rach! Gosh, I was so excited to hear that! It made Rachel feel not so far away :). She even said in her talk that they visited the Manchester Mission "and had met your sister, which by the way, you both look exactly the same!" I totally got a personal shout out from Sister Packer in her talk! Ha-ha It was totally amazing! The conference was excellent and I learned sooo much! Sister Packer's talk really hit me. She spoke on making your missionary experience wonderful. That our attitude is EVERYTHING. That that is what makes the difference. She brought up the "Not Even Once" concept, which I loved! Not even once will I let anything distract me from the work, what a waste that would be. She said that you will return with NO regrets when you let nothing distract you from the work you have committed yourself to do. What a waste that would be. And I think about how it could apply to the rest of you back home. You decided to come here to be here. Not even once should you let anything stand in the way of our eternal goal of returning to live with Heavenly Father. We will go back to Him with no regrets when we let nothing distract us from the great work we've been called to do here on earth. What a waste that would be right?

Elder Packer talked about the need for us to be purified and the need for us to know our investigators. That the gospel of Jesus Christ is the plan, the big picture. Each gospel principle or doctrine is a dot in the dot-to-dot picture. Each of them connects and is important to make up the big picture, the plan. It is our job as missionaries to help our investigators connect the dots and to help them discover the relevance to them personally. He said we Hear > Remember > Understand > Apply > Become. That is an ongoing cycle we face and our investigators face. I liked that. He said to remove all distractions in your missionary work as well. I LOVED it!

We have a new investigator! Her name is M.C. and she is scheduled for baptism! The lessons we had so far with her went very well so we were happy about that. She seems to understand the doctrine quite well but for some reason, Sister Baxter and I always come out of those appointments with her feelings a bit off. Like something is wrong. We cannot seem to figure out what on earth that it but we keep praying for the gift of discernment to know what it is. We feel we have an idea so we are teaching her today and are going to try to see if we can figure it out and resolve it. I hope so because I would hate to lose her! But K. T., our other investigator is progressing and doing very well! No baptismal date yet but I just know that she will be baptized! It has been a slower process with her but it will be worth it. We leave her appointments feeling really great- so that's good! And also Brother G. M., our recent convert, is struggling at the moment. His family is not happy with his decision and is disowning him because he's joined the church. He's mostly blind so it's a lot harder to get around and meet people so with his family saying bye he won't have anyone but the church. I shared with him a scripture that Elder Holland used in his October Conference talk, D&C 84:88. I told him that he will never be alone and that he will receive the help he needs. That, like Elder Holland said, angels will attend to him. Both the angelic and the mortal kind. The gospel and its members will always help and lift him. I also shared my favorite scripture D&C 68:5-6: "Behold, this is the promise of the Lord unto you, O ye my servants. Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the living God, that I was, that I am, and that I am to come." I hope he took comfort in those words because I know that he will never ever be alone. Would you all please pray for these people? They need that little bit of extra help. Thank you.

We had Zone Development Yesterday and it was so much fun! The training was excellent and it reinforced what Sister Baxter and I need and want to be working/improving on. So we going to get on that! I know that Heavenly Father is so aware of us individually. So much so that at Zone Conferences, he makes sure to talk about exactly what I always need. ALWAYS. It never fails. I am so thankful for His personal involvement in my life!

By the way, Sister Baxter is from Draper Utah and she is the BEST! (You already knew this of course but there is no harm in saying is more than once!) She is younger than me and went to the BYU-I and graduated in 3 years!! What a smarty pants! She is an amazing person and I love her loads. She is my pally! We are always laughing. Now THAT is a good thing :)

Mother's Day letter

(Note: Our bishopric asked each missionary serving from our ward to write a letter to their mothers that their fathers would read from the pulpit as a surprise during Sacrament Meeting on Mother's Day. We have 7 missionaries serving right now and 2 of them are our daughters.  Here are excerts from their letters.)

RACHEL - Dear Mom,

I am so grateful for the opportunity that I have to express my love and appreciation for you on this beautiful Mother’s Day! I would like to recall and share some experiences of where you have taught me very important eternal principles that have helped me.

First of all, your ability to have a conversation with anyone always amazed me and at times, when I was younger embarrassed me. I can remember so many times when you would have these conversations with many cashiers at the check-out counter. I saw the love you had for each individual when you would ask them about their day and lives. You could relate with all of them. This example has helped me to do that as I arrive at the check-out counter as a full-time Missionary myself and I am able to share the gospel with them by giving them a Pass Along Card so easily because of your example of Christ-like love.

This love has been unconditional as you have supported all of your children. Throughout all of our lives you would drive car loads of team mates of various athletic groups to all the different sport games that we would play away at another school. Thank you Mom for never missing a Field Hockey, Soccer, or Volleyball game. You were always there cheering us on! Even on our missions, you have written every single week and haven’t miss one yet! You have always understood your divine nature as a daughter of God and a Mother; one having great worth. You helped Teresa and me to understand our self worth even when we were young girls in elementary school. I can recall the nights when right before we went to bed, we would listen to these motivational cassette tapes where we were told we were so special and that we could do anything. But what I think meant most to me from all of that was that you recognized our worth and wanted us to know it. You always knew with a sure knowledge that we could accomplish anything if we worked for it.

You have been my example of living the Gospel and doing all that you can to help others. I appreciate your continual love and support. You have shown me that relying on the Lord and His teachings and by following the commandments that this is how true happiness and peace comes. Thank you for never giving up on any of your children. I love you more and more as each day goes by.

Mother's Day letter

TERESA - Dear Mom,

Lately I have been talking with my companion about parents. I asked her one night about her parents and her relationship with them. It was nice and also interesting to see the different connections to parents and children in different families. I love you so much and I know that without a doubt, you and Dad love me. I have never thought otherwise. I remember the time in my Personal Growth Class at West Valley College. We were given a 2 page packet of compliments – words of encouragement you could say. The teacher then asked us to highlight the ones we were never told growing up in the home. As Rachel and I looked around we saw everybody in that room highlighting what seemed like the entire 2 pages. Rach and I looked at the papers and read all the positive statements. We then raised our hands and the teacher came over to us. We looked at her seriously and said, “We can’t do this assignment.” She looked at us with sympathy and said, “Is it too painful for you both?” We looked at her like she was daft and said, “No, no, of course not. It’s just that we have been told all of these things by our parents.” I will never forget the way she looked at us. She was shocked, as if she had never been told that in all her many years of teaching. She then told us with tears forming in her eyes, “You need to go home tonight and thank your parents. They clearly love you both very much.”

Mom, thank you for teaching me correct principles growing up in the home. I want you to know this gospel is true. I know that families are essential to Heavenly Father’s plan of happiness and he couldn’t have selected a better one for me! I know that we have living prophets on the earth again today that Heaven Father still speaks to His children. Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ did appear to Joseph Smith and restored the fulness of the gospel and priesthood authority back on the earth. My love for the Book of Mormon has increased immensely since I’ve been on my mission. Thank you for reading it with us as we were developing that love. I have sincerely come to know it is the word of God and can answer any question we have in life. And thank you mom for directing us to where we should look for the ultimate source of comfort – our Savior Jesus Christ. I love Him so very much and rely on Him for everything. Even if no one understands, he does. Thank you for guiding me to this knowledge. Mom, I love this gospel and I love you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Scripture Reading

RACHEL - Dear family and friends

 

How is everyone doing? I hope very well! 

You might as well already know that Sister Gallozo has received a virus of some sort recently and so we have been staying in for the past couple of days so she can recover. Within that amount of time, I have been able to complete my Doctrine and Covenants reading and have began reading the Pearl of Great Price. While I was reading the Doctrine and Covenants, I had such a wonderful feeling of the Spirit which gave me more of an excitement to want to just keep reading! After I finished, I had such a deeper testimony of the living Prophets in this Dispensation. I have so much gratitude and respect for them and more than that, I have felt the power of their calling through their words. How grateful I am to know that Heavenly Father loves us so much that He still gives us living Prophets today and that they hold all of the keys in this time.  

We had Zone Conference this last Wednesday and I loved it! We learned more about the Book of Mormon and its origins. We also had a Preach My Gospel Chase which was sooo much fun, I loved it! All of the missionaries know Preach my Gospel so well and sometimes my fingers were just a little too slow to turn to the pages as some of the other missionaries. It was a wonderful experience to help us to become more familiar with that amazing scripture.

There was beautiful counsel that President Bullock gave to me after Zone Conference when I asked the question of how I can always remain diligent and to remove fear from me from speaking to people. I will never forget the words he spoke as he just simply said that the Lord has never promised to remove our fear, but that He will help us to build up courage if we do what He has asked us to and he said to "just talk to people about the gospel." So simple but something has clicked inside me ever since he spoke those plain words and I have seen miracles of the easiness and love I have been able to develop more as I do talk to people about the gospel.

I truly, with all of my heart love this work. I am still trying to become like Christ each day and some days are better than others but because I am trying, my Heavenly Father is aware of my efforts. I really want the Atonement of Jesus Christ to transform my life, way of thinking and actions to become like God. Isn't that something we are all striving for? And along the way, I may falter because of my weaknesses but I really am trying very hard to be better. Thank you for all of your love and support!

RACHEL - Dear Family!

How is everyone? I really hope everyone is doing amazing! Mom, I will get the package tomorrow because it will be Zone Conference so that is when I will receive all my post.

I am very much enjoying Swinton and it is taking me a little while to get use to buses... it's so much to remember and on top of that I am trying to bus contact as well haha so it is a work in progress :) Although, mostly every time I speak to people on the bus, I am able to schedule an appointment with someone from bus contacting, so the Lord is helping me out quite a lot! I am enjoying serving with Sister Gallozo but President has already mentioned to me and to her that she will be leaving to a different area next transfer. A lot of changes will be happening in the next couple of months which will be exciting and challenging all at the same time. One of the changes being a new Mission President. Because all of this is in the Lord's hands, everything will turn out OK and perfectly!

We had a baptism this past weekend! It was a YSA girl who's name is Etta Nyatta. She is wonderful and was found by the Sisters previous. I am so blessed to have been able to get to know her and witness her baptism and confirmation. Two YSA baptism in a row! I am glad I was able to come in just in time! They are being fellowshipped very well and are excited for the future steps towards the Temple!

There was a miracle that we experienced yesterday! We were given a member referral (well... sort of). This mother gave the address of her very inactive son, but she could only remember the street. We went to tract it and when we found the her son right away, but he expressed no interest. I was a little saddened to go back and tell her about our encounter with her son, but when we knocked on the very next door, an older woman in her late 70's came. She was so lovely. We said one of the power statements about families then we asked if we could come in and share more with her and she let us in! We had a lesson with her and now she is one of our new investigators! Every single time any member has given us ANY street that they felt we should tract, we have seen miracles from every one! Give your missionaries a street, any street that sticks out to you. Trust me, the Lord really is aware of His missionaries and will place people in their path if we have faith and are diligent. We were also blessed to have another Street Lesson with a man that we had stopped while street contacting and he became one of our new investigators as well! We are excited to see so many tender mercies from the Lord.

I love being a missionary... it is the best feeling in the world. The purpose that I have been given is beyond me and that is why I am so grateful for the Spirit and complete reliance on the Lord. A Resource for the Members

TERESA - Hi ya!


So this week has definitely improved as far as members go. The ward in East Kilbride have been not so keen on us visiting. (I have no idea why. Must've been bad experiences in the past? Who knows?) But we had an excellent meeting with Bishop Cook and he has really helped us! He really cares about our opinions and contributions to the ward. He is so welcoming of our ideas and input! But this upcoming week we have been getting phone calls from members wanting to invite us over for dinner! Yay! It's not about being fed at all (that's a bonus ha-ha) It's about building that relationship with them so that we can work side by side with each other in helping building the Kingdom of God. The Bishop said something that really struck me. He told a ward member that the ward and its members are not a resource to us missionaries in the work, but that we, the missionaries, are a resource to them. I really liked that because so many times we think how can we use the ward to help us in the work when in reality it's supposed to be every single church member using us missionaries as the resource to bring their friends unto Christ. I never thought about that before. I know I always do this but have any of you felt that way? How can we make it where we as members fully utilize the missionaries serving in our wards with helping bring about our Father's purpose? We forget our Father's work and glory, which is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. If that is where He receives His fulness of joy shouldn't we as well? We, as members decided to Follow our Father. His priority is to bring ALL of His children back to Him. Why don't we make that a priority for ourselves? Please use the missionaries in this great work!!


The one thing I love about my companion, Sister Baxter, (well, there are many things! but one is...) is that we can always talk. So we do a lot of talking about how we can improve as missionaries and even just as plain people! So let me fill you in on a little secret. Every missionary at one point or another struggles with one thing. And that is: What is a good/successful missionary? What does that mean? Ok, well we have thought A LOT about this and we came to our own conclusion, ha-ha. I believe that it is a wonderful thing to magnify your calling. But I fear that missionaries magnify it to the point that they can't see anything else anymore. Now I believe that we do need to get rid of the things that are holding us back in our lives, the things that prevent us from feeling the Spirit. And we do need to put aside our past priorities, for the work we are doing now, so it doesn't get in the way. And this could work with any calling really, not just as missionaries. Don't magnify so much that you can't see the bigger picture. So here's the deal. I am REALLY trying to be the best I can without losing Teresa in the process. And I think that is it! I fear that some missionaries may slide completely into “Elder or Sister So and So” and they lose themselves-who their names were and are. That is really something that I've tried to strike a happy balance at and I am still trying! Somebody once told me that I still have to be Teresa and Sister Kullick. That I can't just be all of one or all of the other alone. I have to be both combined so that I can be the best tool in the Lord's hands. I am still very much me- but a missionary. Sister Baxter said that we're supposed to take Christ's image upon us. Not sacrifice us and then replace us with a different thing but take UPON ourselves Him. The Savior wants to add to what's already there not take away what was there in the first place. She said that it’s kind of like a triangle where it's Christ at the top and Teresa is on one point and Sister Kullick is on the other. We don't become a good missionary by trying to be a missionary (Teresa to Sister Kullick). But rather by us trying to be like our Savior we become that good missionary. (Teresa to Jesus Christ= Sister Kullick)That will be the natural result. It's taking us and trying to be more Christlike and the outcome will be that amazing Sister Kullick, that amazing missionary. Do you know what I mean? The all encompassing missionary that just adds to their existing selves. The Lord didn't call robots He called us. So be YOU being like Christ. I hope that makes sense! I have really thought about this and to understand this concept is really important to me! Dad, you wanted to know and this is what I have thought about! It's like what you said Dad. When you can make everyone around you better because of your example then you are successful! I have learned so much on my mission and I am liking who I've started to become. Still me but a me with an increased desire to do what is right. To become more Christlike!


Last October Conference, Elder L. Tom Perry gave a talk: "The Priesthood of Aaron" and he said one thing that REALLY stuck out to me! He said "I challenge you to build your lives on a foundation of truth and righteousness. It is the only foundation that will stand the pressures of this life and endure through the eternities." I LOVED that!! I need to do whatever I have to make myself and my home a place where the spirit of the Lord can abide. I cannot build on sand. Sister Baxter and I took this challenge seriously and we are focusing on FULLY consecrating ourselves! We are going to give up all of those other things that are holding us back from being the best missionary companionship in the world! We put up the picture where the rich man goes up to Christ and asks Him what he could do to inherit the kingdom of God and Christ said to sell all he possessed and follow Him. And the man couldn't do it. I do NOT want to be like that man! Nothing in the world should be more important than following Christ and having eternal life. So what are we not willing to give up? We thought about a few things and we made plans to give them up and give all of ourselves to Him. It is going to be quite the process but we are willing to do it! The Law of Consecration. I never really knew what that meant until now. I am so excited to really try and adapt it :)
