I have an accent?

RACHEL - Dear Family,

It was indeed wonderful to have been able to speak with Mom, Dad, Steven, Sheila, and Erika on Christmas day! Apparently I have an English accent, which I can't see how they think that but I'm OK with that ;) (It is not a strong British accent but it was totally noticeable when she started speaking!  Teresa did not have any accent for the record!)

Christmas Eve day began with street contacting in the morning till about 1:30 in the afternoon. Then we caroled for a member's neighbor who is 99 years old! They were amazed to here that I had a great uncle who lived to 103! We then had a lesson with Stephen Smith and Debbie with our Ward Mission Leader. It was a very nice lesson on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Spirit was there... I think he is waiting for this big moment when the Spirit will yell to him that this is true, but we have explained at great length that the Spirit doesn't communicate to us like that and so we are seeing him tomorrow and we'll see about the answer he receives! I had told Debbie that I had wanted a nativity that was made here in England but had not managed to find one and for a Christmas gift she gave Sister Suaybaguio and me our own nativities! It is sooo lovely and I'll be sending this home so watch out for it! The assistants to the President also stopped by to give me some more Christmas packages that weren't sent till later and I gladly accepted!

At 4pm we didn't have to proselyte anymore and went over to a member's home and had Christmas Eve Dinner with them. It was delicious and it was your typical Roast Dinner and classic Christmas pudding. Christmas Pudding is not real pudding but rather a fruitcake, so I graciously passed on that one. After dinner we were picked up by our Ward Mission Leader and his wife in Ward 2 and snuggled next to the fire with some popcorn and watched The Polar Express! That was one of the few movies we could watch during Christmas. That was a great evening and then went home.

On Christmas day we got to sleep in to 8am! Haha but I was surprised how my body has gotten use to waking up at 6:30am every morning so even though I was awake for those next few hours I stayed in bed cause I could! We opened our presents under the Christmas tree and I felt so loved! We then went over to a member family, the Mundays and spent Christmas day with them! We then were able to watch Toy Story 3!! I loved it! Then I got a wonderful phone call from my family! After that we went over to visit the Temple Missionaries and I was able to talk with Teresie then. It was sooo amazing to really speak with her and 30 minutes was not enough! She is so wonderful and I love her dearly! But we were able to have a really good conversation! That was the highlight to the day!

I am so happy that Sister Suaybaguio and I get to stay together for another transfer here in Chorley! Sister Suaybaguio and I have actually been having fevers and cold symptoms and have been recovering from these the past couple of days. But we are going to get back on our feet in full health in no time soon!

All in all it was a great Christmas this year and had wonderful memories from it! Thank you to all who sent parcels and letters! I love you all! I hope all is well!
Love always Sister Rachel Kullick

Happy Christmas!

TERESA - Happy Christmas!

I had the BEST Christmas ever! It was an amazing time for us missionaries. First off we had our Christmas Tri-Zone Conference, the theme was Unity. I thought that was so smart of the mission to do at this time. With the merge and everything, the work has sometimes been thrown in all different directions! But it was helpful. We focused on how to begin teaching investigators from Preach My Gospel. Let me tell you, I'm going to read that more everyday of my mission! Because I want to become a Preach My Gospel missionary! Also at the conference Sister Daines, Sister Doyle, and I all sang “Angels We Have Heard on High”. We were all so nervous but it worked out, we got some good feedback so that's always a good sign, haha. Then we had this Christmas feast, it was so delicious!  And then they surprised us by showing us the movie Remember the Titans! It was a lot o fun! We then read a Christmas story about the 4th wise man and then packages were given out. And let me tell you, boy did I feel loved! I got sooo many packages, I felt so spoiled! I think only one other missionary got as many as I did! But thank you sooo very much for everyone who sent me something! I LOVED it all!! It was an amazing day :)

We went to Bishop Murray's home on 23 of December. His wife, Tina, is Swedish and that's when they have their Christmas Eve. It was an amazing dinner and I LOVE spending time with them in their home! They are just so fun and loving. But on our Christmas Eve, the 24th , we went to Sister Julie Williams' home with the older missionary couple, Elder and Sister Ripplinger. It was a blast! The Williams' daughter Zooey, 19, is visiting and she is so great and totally funny! We had a great Christmas Tea! And then we went to the Christmas Eve Carol Service at the Stake Center. And of course, all us missionaries were asked to sing a song! We sang “Once in David's Royale City”. It went ok :) Then again, more people kept handing us little gifts. This ward is just sooo nice and generous!

Which brings us to Christmas day! We woke up and got ready and then opened all our gifties! What a fun time we had! Thank you again to everyone who sent something! It really made my Christmas that much more special, thank you! The Elders and us then went over to the Murray's again and watched Ice Age 3 and had a very tasty breakfast. Then they surprised us yet again with more presents from the ward! Geesh, the whole time I was thinking how spoiled us missionaries were!! Then we went to Clair and Lee Thomson's house and played Guitar Hero World Tour! It was totally awesome! Man, I hadn't played that game in ages! Then we went to Dennis and Avril Campbell's and they prepared an excellent Christmas Day Dinner for us all. And they also gave us stockings! She hand knitted me mittens! How nice! I've been really needing a pair too, and these are top quality made with love :) After that, we went to The Williams again and played board games while some of the missionaries talked on the phone. I was the last to speak and let me tell you, it was absolutely wonderful to talk to my family again! I don't think I realized how much I needed that. I talked to Mom, Dad, Steven, Sheila, and Erika first for about a half hour. (Already, not enough time! haha) It was great to hear them again and to get advice from them! I love you all so very much and I am sooo eternally grateful that every one of you is a part of my family! It would not be the same if even one of you were missing! Thank you so much for loving and supporting me in this experience!

Then, here comes the BEST part of the day..............talking to Rach!!!!! Man, that was everything to me to be able to do that! I love my sister so much and to be able to speak to her was unreal. It felt weird but at the same time it didn't, like we've never been apart. Talking with her helped me a lot to focus and try a lot harder on being a better missionary! Thank you so much Rach for inspiring me to be the best I can be! I love you!

After the phone calls, we all watched Toy Story 3 (which was amazing!). Let me tell you, we were all so worn out by the end of the day. I felt so loved by my Heavenly Father by Him giving me a loving and caring ward that takes care of their missionaries. I really felt like we were apart of their families that day. And also for giving me the best family ever back home and of course, Rach in Chorley! I love them with all of my heart and I know I am the person I am today because of their wonderful examples and influence to me. Thank you sooo much! I am so BLESSED!!

On Boxing Day, the day after Christmas, (big deal here in the UK) some of our Zone did service. Only 8 of us were there because others were too far away to come. We went to a Care Home. We shoveled and swept their driveways and car park and sang Christmas carols to the residents there. It was a lot of fun! You could see how much they enjoyed it by all the smiles on their faces and they were all singing along as well! It was a great feeling to know we brightened their day, even if it was just a little bit! And honestly, it took no time at all. So I encourage you all to try it some time, it is extremely rewarding! Then we went to Grant and Sara Campbell's for dinner. It was another Christmas feast! How wonderful!  And since it was Boxing Day, the rules are different again so we watched a bit of The Singles Ward! My all time favorite Mormon movie! What a good day :)

Yesterday, We had a Zone Development Meeting till noon, which was really good. We centered our teaching all on the Book of Mormon and how we can use it more in our teaching. It was, as always, really helpful!  Then we had a Zone Activity where we went to Burger King and then played Volleyball at the Church. Then we went out finding and had a lesson with Angie with the Shorts later that night! My oh my, what an exhausting fun few days it's been!

So we were ready and rearing to go! We are committed to being better missionaries and to find people! We are going to always look for ways to expand our teaching pool! Sis Daines and I are working on becoming Sacred Missionaries as well. My most lovely twin sissy sent me a copy of hers from her mission. And we just love it! It helps us and reminds us how we can be better always! I know that it is important to give it all you've got right now, because there won't be another time to do it.   Like what Rach said, "I don't want to look back on my mission and regret anything." I want to know that I gave it all I had and more and nothing less. I am ready to work!

Thank you for all the love and support Rach and I have received from everyone! I love you all.
Love Always, Sister Teresa Kullick

A Family... almost!

RACHEL - Dear Family!!!!!

This past week has been sooo amazing!! I was so blessed and able to witness the baptisms of a family that we have been teaching this weekend! There was the mother Debbie, Jessica (11yrs), Kayleigh (10yrs) and Charlie (8yrs)! I love this family!  It was a remarkable experience and very humbling. This is only the beginning for them and they are all excited about the gospel! After the baptism, Debbie's husband, Stephen, has become interested in learning more about the Church and we taught him on Sunday. It went very well, he didn't accept a specific date but said he would get baptized if he knew it was true. Later that evening we went to the Christmas Concert that the Chorley ward put together and he felt the Spirit so strongly that he became emotional. I am so excited to think that when Stephen decides to take the steps towards baptism, that soon after they as a family will all be able to enter into the temple and to become a family for all eternity! This is experience is truly sacred to me and to think of how the Gospel will effect them for the rest of their lives brings tears to my eyes. Because they mean so much to me I pray so fervently that Heavenly Father will keep them safe from the adversary and that they will continue to strengthen their relationships with one another. They LOVE Family Home Evenings and have loved playing the game "Hide the Thing"! Haha I love being a missionary! Even with Christmas time coming, there is no place else I would rather be!

Also we had tea with Patricia! That's right, it was amazing and now she wants to be re-taught again and has started to come back to some of her friends in the church! We are having Christmas Eve Dinner with her and a member of the ward! I am starting to be able to see again the sparkle that she had in her eyes when she felt the Spirit. It made her truly beautiful. Thank you for those who prayed for her because it has been making a difference.

This week has been the most beautiful one that I have seen so far in my life. I am very grateful to be serving here where my Heavenly Father knew I needed to meet and teach specific people! I thank those from the bottom of my heart who helped me get to where I am now. Thank you for the letters and love and I will talk to you soon! I will send pictures next week!

I got those oh so tasty advent calendars! Thank you! Love you all!

12 Days of Christmas

TERESA - Hello Familia!

So as you may have gathered, everything stayed the same for moves :) Thank goodness!!! I am in Dundee still and I LOVE it! That means I still have much to do here....and I'm ready for it :)

Aileen's C-section went according to plan and all is well! Little Benjamin is doing so well. He was even baby Jesus in our Ward Christmas Nativity play! Cute huh? Aileen can't be in water until 5 weeks and she said she wanted to be baptized as soon as possible. And since this moves is a 7 week one, I just might maybe be able to be here for it! Let's pray for it!!

The ward is taking good care of us here on Christmas. We are having breakfast and opening presents at the Bishop's (yay!) and then dinner at either the Campbell's or the Menzies (both amazing families!) and then phone calls, movie (Toy Story 3, we are all so excited!), and just relaxing! I can't wait!! But I do have to say that it still doesn't really feel like Christmas, you know? I kind of feel like, "What Christmas is this week? No way!" haha I guess it's because I'm not home with you guys or Rach doing the things we usually do. But that's OK :) It's just strange and unreal that it's here. But nevertheless, I am sooo stoked!

So the 12 days of Christmas is going really well......well, actually, not quite! So Sis Daines and I didn't expect it to be this hard! haha First off, Linda already thinks it's us and tried to get it out of us, and just for the record, I am a horrible liar! So even though I tried, pretty sure she totally knows! haha

OK, Michelle.....wow her "12 Days" is really tough! She lives in a flat on the 3rd floor. The first day went OK, I just had to take off my shoes and pretty much jump down the stairs after knocking. And then the second day, I get ready to do the same thing and when I turn the corner to her flat door - what do I see but a dark figure standing by her door! Its totally dark in the stair wells. Michelle was out there smoking (we are still working with her on that) and I just panicked and got out of there. I ran to the bottom floor outside where Sis Daines was. Sis Daines asked me what happened, when I came back down with the oranges still in my hand. I told her that I wasn't going to do that again and she would have to just go up there and chuck them at her! haha As we were talking/freaking out about this we hear a squeak and we look up and there is Michelle poking her head out of the stair well window! She said, "What are you doing?", but in a way that I don't think she knew who we were. So Sis Daines ran in and threw the oranges at her and we bailed. Oh my goodness! 5 more days of this?! We definitely need to cover the Word of Wisdom again with her :)

We've been going around giving members our special Christmas message that we made! And the reaction has been wonderful! Everyone has loved it so far :) So if I still remember it next Christmas I will share it with you guys! But for now, you will just have to wait in joyful anticipation :) haha

We aren't really teaching any investigators right now but we are looking through the list of potentials and formers and going by them and asking if we can visit with them again. And also Angie Short (the Short's  granddaughter) is back and should be clean so hopefully we
will be able to teach her again and set a baptismal date! We will see her tonight, so we are hopeful about things to come!

Well, I love you all and have a Merry Christmas!!!!  Thank you for everything!!!

Love always, Sister Teresa Kullick

Baby, its cold outside!

-Sister Daines and I by our Christmas tree! Happy Christmas! Like our
tartan Santa hats?

We gave service to the McDonald's. Their mop froze in the bucket
outside! It is getting that cold! Haha!

Birth or Rebirth?

TERESA - Hi ya Family!

Ok, so life has been filled with busy goodness! haha. A lot has happened and to be honest some of it has been kind of a bummer but not to worry, all will work itself out!

Aileen was not able to be baptized this past Sunday. But for a very good reason! She went into the doctor's on Friday and found out that she needed to have an emergency section. The baby came only a week earlier then what was scheduled. It is a baby boy and they named him Benjamin! He is still in intensive care so we are hoping and praying that he will be ok. So this means that her baptism won't be until a while later. So I probably won't be able to see it :( But hopefully, if moves works in my favor, I'll be here forever and then I will! Haha Seriously though, I LOVE it here in Dundee! I love the people here so much and would hate to leave them all right before Christmas, let alone at all! I look back at the moves call where I felt a little disappointed I was staying and I think I was crazy! I'm so grateful that my Heavenly Father is letting my stay here! Fingers crossed I'll be here still after this upcoming moves. We get our call on Wednesday night and move on Friday. So hopefully I'm not finished here yet! I personally don't think I am :)

Michelle our less-active is progressing sooo well! Honestly, I am seriously impressed with her progress! She is a wonderful woman and I am so honored I get to help her back on track. But to tell you the truth, she has been teaching us lately! She is starting to read her scriptures regularly and write down scriptures that really mean something to her at the time. I am just so proud of her! Every time we visit her, it just gets better and better! And it all started to shift this way when we made the Book of Mormon the main focus. AS we have read out of that book with her, her heart has been made softer and softer. I know that the Book of Mormon can literally change lives for good. I am seeing it happen right now on my mission! I know that if anybody reads that book with a sincere heart and with real intent they will receive a peace and happiness that they can get nowhere else. I mean that! And I am not afraid to make that promise! Because I know it to be true!! My love for the Book of Mormon has grown tremendously since I've been out and I am beginning to truly understand how essential it is to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have learned to not to trivialize the Book of Mormon by trying to answer all their questions myself. That book has the answers and all I'm supposed to be is a tour guide. So that is what I'm trying to be!

Unfortunately, Derek, the one man that we found completely by the Spirit, has told us he is too busy to learn at the moment. But even when he told us that, I wasn't as sad as I thought I'd be. It's just that I know that it's not going to be over with him. I know that even if he isn't ready now for us to teach him (that is the bummer!), I do know that he will be ready later. I really do. Because after all those little miracles leading us to find him, I just know it's going to happen with him. So even if it can't happen now, I rest at ease knowing that everything will be all right. So no worries, we will find somebody who's ready now!

We are also going to do the 12 Days of Christmas starting today for Michelle and Linda (she's another less-active). I really hope this will brighten their spirits and will help them see that they are loved and thought of this Christmas season! So I encourage everyone to one this Christmas for someone or just give a little treat to someone who you think needs it. Because odds are if you think they need it, then they really do.

Christmas is kind of up in the air at the moment. We don't even really know where we will be that day! And the thing is with our mission is that they usually don't let us know about anything until the day before! So that can get kind of crazy, but we'll see. But I do know that I HAVE to speak to Rach! There will be no way that that's not happening! Haha So I'm going to talk to President about that for sure!

Well I love you family! And I'm sorry I haven't written all of you! I feel sooo bad about that, but it's a lot harder then I thought it would be to find time! Ahhhhh! Haha So do not take it personally if you don't hear from me personally for a while! Just know that I love you!!!

Happy Christmas!!!

Love Always,

Sister Teresa Kullick

RACHEL - Hello family!!

How are you this wonderful day? Hopefully well! I am doing great here in Chorley as always! Debbie's Baptism is on the 18th, this Saturday! We will most likely have her whole family (Jessica 11yrs, Kayleigh 10yrs, Charlie 8yrs) be baptized as well, but I will let you know in the next letter! It has been so wonderful seeing the growth of their testimonies and knowledge in the gospel! Their enthusiasm and excitement in contagious! I am so blessed to have been able to find, teach and witness their baptism! This gospel is bringing them closer together and happier as well!

A miracle happened this last Thursday! Before weekly planning we went out finding and didn't have much success, but did not loose hope in the fact that we'll find someone who has been waiting for the Gospel. After planning (for 3 hours), the first man we spoke to, Eddie Platt (an older man), stopped and talked with us. We ended up teaching him the entire first lesson including and opening and closing prayer (which he gave at the end!) on the street and we invited him to be baptized and he accepted! We invited him to come to the Ward Christmas party and he came and attended church that Sunday! He is already making tons of friends in the ward! It is amazing to find the Golden ones and to have the faith and confidence that if we are diligent that we will find them! It is wonderful to be able to witness these miracles and to see children of God grow in their testimonies of the Gospel!

I am so glad Teresa has been able to experience QGCs (Quality Gospel Conversation) because they are a key tool in helping the work progress! Since 2 years ago when we have had the QGCs, it has been a 200% increase of baptisms from street contacting alone! Amazing, and I love them!

It has stopped snowing recently but the people here say that it is only a matter of time till gets worse than before! Well, I don't mind, this is a new and different experience!

I sent a package home of just letters or items that I don't have room for and I will continue to send more of those home. Thank you in advance for receiving them!

Well I love you all and thank you to the Gundreds and Maxwells for the gift I have not opened it yet (waiting for Christmas day of course!) And thank you mom and dad for both of your packages! Sister Suaybaguio says thank you sooo much for her Stocking too! Thank you Lauren for your letter, as always I loved it! Well I will talk with you all very soon! Hope all is well!

Oh my s'mores...

RACHEL - Hello!

We do have a microwave and a teakettle so if you would like to give some more tips on keeping warm that would be great! Aw that is so sweet of Wendy Penny, tell her thank you for her concern but we are doing well and it hasn't been sooo cold since but it is chilly! I am just a wimp because I come from California!

Mom, I was thinking the other day how I used to spend my Thanksgivings back at home and I remember you and I always attending those Thanksgiving Services at those various places of worship. haha I couldn't help but laugh about the Thanksgiving before this one where our van got broken into in the parking lot of a synagogue! (Cary's comment: I am not sure I was doing much laughing!) haha Good times eh? We have some great Thanksgiving memories together. We will continue that when next Thanksgiving rolls around :)

It has been snowing a little bit here but apparently everywhere else in England has been hit with more snow than Chorley! But then when the snow falls, then comes ice (which is very slippery if I might add speaking from experience of falling twice) and then the slush. And it is real slush too and you would think that it wouldn't be slippery but oh my s'mores is it slippery! Since this area is either where we walk or literally run all the time, the weather has made that a tad difficult from getting to A to B safely and quick! I have enjoyed living in the Snow for the first time and last haha it is a great experience! This is Sister Suaybaguio's first time ever seeing the snow in person and she loves it but is suffering from the cold! I have put up our Christmas decorations that were already in our flat left by some previous missionaries and I put together our Christmas tree. It is interesting no one here has real Christmas trees, they are always fake...probably because the houses are smaller here or that they don't have access to real pine trees, I'm not sure.

I am not sure about our plans for Christmas day yet, but I can imagine visiting a couple of member’s homes on that day for quite a few dinners and puddings (dessert)!

I am sooo excited for the baptisms that will take place on the 18th of December! Debbie and her 11-year-old daughter Jessica are so excited about the Gospel! Jessica is already telling everyone at her school that she is Mormon and because of that she is discovering a lot more kids her age who are Mormon too! She even said she wanted to serve a mission, which was the BEST feeling in the World!! To think of the ripple effect this family will have by living the Gospel throughout generations makes me overcome with joy! The Gospel was restored back to the earth for literally only one reason and that is for families to be sealed together forever. Elder Nelson said that (I paraphrased of course) and it is truly what the Gospel comes down to, families. Period. I love that! So that should tell us where families should fall on our priorities list and what we need to do to strengthen them, such as family prayer, scripture study, and Family Home Evenings.

I am so grateful to be teaching these Beautiful commandments and principles to others! I feel so honored to be teaching these specific children of God and to be given a chance to make lasting relationships with these individuals. There is nowhere else I would rather be and would rather be doing. I know that serving a mission can only be a good thing and that those that are deciding to serve, do it because you will regret this if you don't. There are things and experiences that you will ONLY have when you serve a full-time mission of the Lord. I have really been trying hard on my mission so far to not to return as an honorable missionary but to return as a sacred missionary. I never knew how much of a difference there is between the two, but there is. I know my mission will greatly shape me into who I am trying to become, like my Savior. I am grateful for my calling, I know I have been called by a Prophet of God and he sent me here for the specific purpose of teaching certain people. I know that this Gospel and this Church was the only one that was restored that one Spring Morning in the year of 1820 and that it is Christ's Church in these latter-days. I know these things to be true, I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. I love you all and will hear from you soon!!

Love always, sister Rach Kullick

Rachel in the snow!

Amazing Experience!

TERESA - Hello! Hello!

My goodness! It is sure winter over here! haha But not to worry, it hasn't been too bad I guess :) It is snowing A LOT! But believe it or not, it's actually been really good for the work! People are a lot happier and more willing to speak with you. Which is strange to me because you'd think with the "blizzard" outside, people would be more eager to be inside instead of standing in the cold talking to missionaries, haha. But they aren't! It's brilliant! We've had another amazing week out here and we feel so very blessed!

Aileen's baptism has been pushed back a week due to weather conditions. But it is definitely still on! I am on top of the world just thinking about it! She is amazing and I am so happy for her decision :) She is one of the most lovely people I have ever met!! I know I was meant to stay here in Dundee for this long just to see her baptism. There is a whole big story with this that is the most heart felt experience I have had so far on my mission!! (I am going to write a hand-written letter about it to you, mom and dad!) I know I am here still because of Aileen! And after the experience I had with her I know that this work is so much bigger than me. When President told me that there were still things that I needed to accomplish here I didn't see what that could've been until now. This is why. And I am just praying that my Heavenly Father wants me here for another moves because there is sooo much I want to accomplish here still! I hope that's what I need to do, but if He wants me to go I will know that it is right because I may not know everything, but He does. I trust Him!! :)

For Church this Sunday we only had a Sacrament/Testimony meeting and then a Munch & Mingle afterwards. But it was really good! Yvonne Cavin was there and I about died I was so happy! She NEVER comes and she was there! Her husband was so thrilled, he was way cheery, you could see the difference in his face :)

OK, so let me tell you one experience that happened to us this week. It all started on Wednesday. We had just gotten out of an amazing discussion with a less-active who's trying to turn her life around. Michelle is making excellent progress! She's also the kind of person that you just love being around, because she's just so fun! OK, but anyway, we got out of that teach and it was 4:00. (Keep in mind; it's already way dark at 4 in the afternoon in the winter!) And we wanted to make some Fall soup. We had gotten all the ingredients except forgot to get the tortellini. So we decided to go to Tesco and get some and then come back and make it. So we made sure we were talking to people as we were going. After a whole lot of "no thank you's" we then stopped this one man coming out of Tesco. His name was Derek and he was in his 50's. We stood and talked with him and he was totally listening! We asked what it would mean to have a book that provided all the answers to life. And he thought for a moment and then said sincerely, "Peace. It would bring me peace." You should've seen our faces! I was in utter shock, this was the kind of response that every missionary dreams and wishes for! He went on to say that he was raised roman catholic but didn't think it had the answers. He then said that he wanted to regain faith and that maybe our church was what he was looking for. And that we found him at the right time! My oh my! We were so happy!

He then gave us his address and Sister Daines wrote it down and then I wrote down his phone number. He said his last name was Smith and commented that it was the most boring name ever, haha. We were going to see him the next night, Thursday.

Thursday. Now, from this point on I’m going to put down what my companion wrote because she can do this experience a lot more justice than me!! It is pretty long but it was an amazing experience! And really special to each of us:

"We came back to the flat for dinner, and while walking home, I began to get a really bad headache. We came in, and I just lay down on my bed it was so bad. I figured it I rested a bit, it would lessen or go away. After a bit, it was still bad, and was actually getting worse. Sister Kullick tried to help me by giving me a head and back massage. That didn’t do anything either. I had taken 4 ibuprofen, and that didn’t touch it. I was getting frustrated, because we were needing to leave soon to go and see Derek and Heather, the man we met last night. I had the thought come to mind that this was an attack from Satan, to make it so we couldn’t go and see Derek. I had been praying in my heart that it would leave, but when this thought came, my prayers increased. I had received some very specific revelation this morning while studying (for Derek), and I knew that it was inspired, and that we absolutely needed to see him tonight. I sat up on the edge of my bed, and said that it might help if I tried to eat something. Sister Kullick was very kind, and heated some soup for me. I tried eating a bit, but it just made me nauseated and I began to cry because I was so frustrated. I told Sister Kullick a bit of how I was feeling, and she made a statement, that it was an attack from Satan. I was grateful that she was in tune with the spirit to understand. In my silent prayer a few minutes before, I told Heavenly Father that I had faith in the power of the priesthood, but that wasn’t available right now. I then said that the next thing I could do was pray, and so I had been pouring out my heart to Heavenly Father. When Sister Kullick made her statement, she asked if we should say a prayer, I said yes. We knelt right there in the bedroom, and she asked if she could say it. I agreed. She said a very touching prayer, and prayed that all that I was experiencing would leave immediately. As she prayed, I had tears streaming down my face, and I felt the spirit. We both hugged following the prayer, and I told her thank you. I told her that I was grateful for her desire to do what is right, and that I wouldn’t want to be serving with anyone else right now. I meant that. My headache didn’t leave right at that moment, but I felt that it was now my responsibility to act in faith, and put my trust in God. I stood up and the first 2 things that I saw were pictures of Jesus Christ and Joseph Smith. I felt the spirit very powerfully in my heart, and I knew that all would be made right. I did not feel alone. We quickly gathered up our things, prayed and walked out the door.

We arrived at the address Derek had given to us, #38 Ravenscraig Road. Sister Kullick offered the prayer before we went up to the door. I don’t remember what was said, but both of us felt the spirit very strong again. We went up to the door and chapped it, a moment later, a woman came to the door, we asked for Derek, and then a man came to the door. It was not Derek. We asked if he stayed here, or anywhere near, and neither of them had a clue. Sister Kullick then bore her testimony, and we just got rejected. IN both of our minds, we thought that maybe we had just been directed to this door to share our message with them. The answer to that was no. We chapped the door next to it, and another lady answered. She mentioned that she had seen us earlier, and said that we shouldn’t go to the door we had just chapped. She said they were junkies. She told us as many people as she could remember on this road, but could not come up with a Derek and Heather. She was very helpful, but was not interested in our message either. We both felt a need to continue chapping and try and find Derek. So this is what we continued to do. People were very nice, but nobody wanted to listen to our message. WE were practically running from house to house. WE both knew we hadn’t been directed here for no reason. WE went to a house up around the corner, chapped, but nobody came to the door. We chapped again, and a younger woman came to the door. She said that a Derek and Heather stayed just around the corner, two doors in. She didn’t know their surname, but knew that a Derek and Heather definitely stayed there. She wasn’t interested in our message either. We ran back around the corner (even to the point that we were jumping over the big piles of snow), and chapped the door. There was a light on inside, and so we were very excited. Nobody answered. We chapped several times, but still nothing. I wrote a note, and put it through the letterbox. Sister Kullick chapped again, but still no answer. We chapped the doors on both sides of it (which was # 28) and both people said that a Derek and Heather stayed there, but not with the surname of Smith, but of Gordon. This now made us wonder if we had really been given a fake address and name. We chapped another door, and this woman didn’t have any idea. We were going to the house next door when she came back out, and asked us to come back. She said that she thought Derek and Heather stayed down at the end of the road. She even came out and pointed to the house we should try. This got us excited again. So we hurried down to that door, chapped, and man came to the door, but it was not Derek, nor did he have any idea who Derek was. At this point Sister Kullick asked if we should go by and see Stacey, another investigator. I agreed. She said that we go one direction, and I told her that the woman who we had chapped first (after #38) kept coming to mind, and maybe it was her that we were really meant to see. She wasn’t sure about it, but we both agreed to try her again. As we headed back that way (the opposite of where was suggested a bit earlier), we passed by #28 again. We both glanced just passing by, and guess who we saw! It was Derek! HE was out brushing off his car. Sister Kullick and I just looked in disbelief, and then said his name in unison. He looked at us, and pulled out his earphones, we told him we had been by earlier, and he said that he thought he’d missed us. We asked if he still had time to see us, and he did. His wife wasn’t in, so w e could only go in the door and set up a return appointment. But we found Derek! I can’t believe that both of us wrote down the wrong address and phone number that never happens. As we had been chapping the doors, I had the thought that this was an experience to test our faith. I also felt that we were guided by the spirit through the entire experience. I don’t think it was coincidence that we both wrote down wrong information. Derek had been home late from work, and had we not been so thorough in trying to find him, we would not have bumped into him later (by about 40 minutes to an hour later). As we spoke to him while setting up a return appointment, he said that he hadn’t had a chance to read anything from the Book of Mormon, but was planning on sitting down and reading it tonight. He said that he had been studying to be a Priest when he was younger, and had read through the entire Bible. His life had gone the other direction though, and he wants to find his faith, and find answers to his questions. He also asked what it would take to become a member, and when the soonest he could be baptized. We told him, and then said the 26th of December! We also invited him to church on Sunday, and he said he’d come. As we left, I was so lifted by the spirit. He is looking forward to seeing us on Thursday. As we walked down the road to Stacey’s, Sister Kullick asked if I still felt we should go by that woman. I said no, that the thought had come, just to get us back in that direction to find Derek. I told Sister Kullick that my headache was completely gone, and that it had left as soon as we said the prayer to go and chap #38. I know with all of my heart that we were guided by the spirit of the Lord, and that everything that has taken place was such a miracle. My heart is filled with gratitude for all that we are experiencing. I am so grateful to be a missionary. I know that I am in the right place, doing the right things.

I know that we were meant to meet this man, and am looking forward to what he will find as he searches the Book of Mormon, and listens to the message that we share."

This was an incredible occurrence! It may not seem so big to anybody else but that is OK. I know that every little thought that came into our minds was Heavenly Father directing us and I know that all these things happened for a reason! If we hadn't kept looking then we would've never seen Derek ever again. I know that to be true! The only word I can use of describing how I felt during the whole thing would be invincible! Haha I know we were guided and that if you do what's right then it doesn't matter if its the Spirit or you, you'll get there eventually :)

I love you all!

SNOW in Dundee

TERESA - Hello!
So OK, it is totally snowing!!! I have zero time to write because most of the computers have shut down because of the weather! So they only gave me a 20 min time slot! ahhh! But I can't even explain to you how incredible this week has been! So many little and big miracles have occurred!! I wish I could write it now but I can't. I think I will write a letter and then mom you can post it later :)

I want you to know that I LOVE you all! Since I've been out here I have learned so many things. But one thing that I've really come to understand is charity. I love these people here and the thought of leaving them just kills me!

Aileen is getting baptized on the 5th and I am so happy about that that I can't even put it into words. I love her with all of my heart and it has been a complete honor to teach her and learn from her! I love my new companion! She is so inspiring to me and encourages me to be better! I LOVE it here! It hit me last Sunday that I go home in a year and let me tell you, that was a nasty shock! I truly realized how precious time is and that I can't waste any of it!! And so far, things have just gotten even better!! :) I am so happy.

Thank you all for your love and support! It means the world to Rach and I!
Love always, Sister Teresa Kullick
Sorry its backwards too! The computers are being weird!
And thanks mom for the camera! It is THE BEST! LOVE YOU!

SNOW in Chorley

RACHEL - Dear Familia!
How are you all?? I hope very well!! I am doing great by the way if you were wondering!

It snowed this morning for the First time in Chorley!! haha what an experience! This will be the first time in my life where I have lived where it actually snows! These past couple nights have been below freezing soo that has been tough to adjust to and to be honest I don't really want to adjust to it! But thank goodness I get two summers instead of two Winters because it is really really chilly here during the winter time and I don't want to have to keep putting on layers! haha 9 Layers one night! My normal outfit underneath:3 layers, 2 sweatshirts, 3 Coats, 2 Scarves and I even broke out the ear muffs... haha yeah I could barely move.

We had our Festival of Nativities here and it was lovely. They have only done it for the past couple of years so they are building it up and continuing to add more to it. It didn't come close to the amount of Nativities I have seen at our Creche Exhibit back home (So appreciate it!).

We sang for the Tri-ward Christmas Devotional Sacrament meeting and that went pretty well. It was just practically just the two Elders and me because Sister Suaybaguio literally stopped singing almost at the very beginning and for the rest of the song just smiled at the congregation! haha man, I couldn't believe it haha it was funny to laugh about though. But we had some compliments afterwards so I guess it went OK.

Sports Day was a Blast!! Oh my goodness, it was like Christmas came early for me! For the first hour it was just the Sisters playing and that was a great time! We played Ultimate Frisbee, a cool new game I learned called Ninja (that was a pretty fun game and hilarious too!) and a little bit of basketball. I then played Football (Soccer) with the Elders for a couple hours straight all the way till the end of the day! Man I had a huge smile on my face the Whole day! Needless to say I woke up not being able to move throughout the entire day without my body aching! haha it was so worth it though!

I saw Patricia yesterday and it was good to talk to her, she feels like giving up and I honestly feel powerless; all I can do is pray and fast for her, she still loves the Gospel though. Our other investigators are progressing well towards baptism on the 18th of December. We are excited for them to eventually enter into the house of the Lord one day soon!

Well, I gotta get going, but thank you Sister Hulme for the letter, I appreciate it! I will talk to you all sooon! Love and miss you all!

8 new investigators!

RACHEL - Hello Family!

How is everyone?? I hope very well!! Mom, I have been receiving your packages and I LOVE them every time!! What are your plans for Thanksgiving? In our mission, we are having a Sports Day for all the Sisters from the mission, which I have been looking forward to since September!! haha This Friday 3 Zones will get together and from 10am to 4pm we will be playing sports!! Sounds like my kind of day! On Thursday the rest of the mission (4 other zones) will get together to play. But I am excited and it should be a blast!

This past week has been filled with miracles!! When all of them were happening, I couldn't seem to process all of them at once! I was mostly walking around in shock this past week. This past week alone we have found 8 new investigators and 7 of them have accepted Baptismal dates!

We have found a family from tracting! They are the Smiths and it is a family of five. The mother and her 3 children who are accountable want to be baptized and are being wonderfully fellowshipped! They are progressing beautifully! We also have a single mother, Sarah, who we also found tracting! We set an appointment with her that night and when we taught her she said that she loves the Book of Mormon and that it fills in holes that the Bible are unable to fill. We are excited to see her progress as well! We have an YSA, Tanya, who was introduced to us by a member and she is taking the discussions and embracing the teachings of the restored Gospel! There is a man, Robert who is 33 years old who we found street contacting and he has that desire to learn more and know for himself. He also greatly desires to come to church and experience the Sacrament. We also found another man named Lister who while street contacting, he was taught a little while ago but now has made the decision to change his life and to be a member of the Church.

Throughout this entire week Sister Suaybaguio and I could hardly contain our excitement! We fasted this Thursday in gratitude of Heavenly Father for simply placing those who are prepared in our paths. We recognize that we must do all we can to remain exactly obedient and to be pure in heart. I am privileged to be teaching these special individuals and having Heavenly Father trust me enough to be able to teach them more about the Gospel. I know miracles happen and that when times seem rough, that means something amazing is going to happen around the corner, we must not loose faith! We must always rely on the Spirit when given responsibilities!

I am so grateful to be here in Chorley for Christmas, right next to the Temple, I am blessed and truly honored to have it so close to me! They are having this big Festival of Nativities (exactly like our Crèche Exhibit at home) and that should be amazing! Also this Sunday will be a tri-ward Christmas Devotional and they asked me and my comp and the two other Zone leaders in the Chorley Ward to sing for it! Ahhh!! This will be in front of hundreds of people!! Exciting! We are singing O Come All Ye Faithful and I'm singing tenor! haha this should be fun!

Love you all and hope to hear from you soon!

Love always, Sister Rachel Kullick

I LOVE meetings!

TERESA - Hello familia!

How are you all? I hope your Thanksgiving is going to be excellent! I know ours will be! A member of our ward, Sister Julie Williams, is wanting to have us over for thanksgiving! She's from England but she wants to make things feel more homey for us :) She's excited to have her first Thanksgiving. This will be great! Isn't that nice of her?

I've recently been getting over a horrible cold that has literally wiped me out. I was down for the count there but now I'm back in the game! haha So I am feeling much better and I am totally amped for this upcoming week! A lot of really good stuff is going to come our way and after some hard work we will see it all pan out :)

So as you all know already, Aileen Baird is getting baptized! YAY! I am sooo ecstatic that I get to be here for it! We went over her baptismal program with her and tried to get everything all organized. And she wanted me to give a talk at it! How amazing is that?! I feel so touched that she wants me to speak and I'm really excited to do so. So I'm going to be speaking on faith and repentance (probably the best topics ever) so wish me luck! haha

We had a Zone Conference this past week. And it was a Tri-Zone one so Edinburgh Zone, Aberdeen Zone, and Dundee Zone were all present. It was sooo brilliant! I LOVE meetings, I really do. I never realized until I got out here, how much I love meetings! They help you so much in learning to be better and more effective and happy in what you’re doing. They are just so great! This one focused on Weekly Planning Session, which I previously hated doing and now I've grown to love them! Crazy huh? And then our Mission President, President Griffiths presented a new thing in our mission. I think I was the only one who knew what this was because of Rachel! Our Mission President is a pal with Rachel's Mission President and he borrowed the Quality Gospel Conversations from the Manchester Mission! How fun, and plus, now Rach and mine's mission experiences will be even more similar! The QGC's are just another way of contacting people on the street. I'm excited to do them too!

Sister Daines and I are getting along splendidly! I am so glad I have her as a companion :) She is just so lovely! She is way in tune with the Spirit and she is helping me so much in becoming a better missionary! I'm glad I have the opportunity to serve with her. And funny thing too, is that even though she's from Utah, she has a Scottish/English accent! haha Everyone keeps saying, "Wait, where are you from again? You're not from Utah." hahaha It is so funny! I think she picked it up while serving in East Kilbride with a companion from Essex, England. So she was lucky enough to let it rub off on her. Pretty sure that is definitely not happening to me, haha, just my same old American accent. But that's OK, a lot of people like that accent! haha

November 14th was Remembrance Day. Where we remember all the soldiers who died in world wars. It was nice; everyone wore red poppies (us too!) to remember them by.

So pretty sure I have succeeded! Let me give you the reason why: The Relief Society President and the Sisters have never seemed to get along so well. Sad, I know. But I'll tell you something; it is very hard to get on with her at times because she just didn't like us. She even yelled at us once in a meeting! (Long story but it was all a big miscommunication, as they all are). But here's the deal; over the past 6 months I decided that this wasn't working and I wanted to the missionaries to have a better relationship with her. So I've been going out of my way to say hi and show love and kindness to her. And what do ya know?! It worked! We are now all pallies! She's having us over for dinner tonight and I'm way excited. She never has missionaries over. Honestly, if you told me 6 months ago that I would be having dinner at the Relief Society President's house and that I was looking forward to it, I would've thought you were crazy! Seriously. It's that big of a change. I am so happy about it! Now I have a firm testimony that even if you can't change the situation you are in, you can do all you can to make it better and maybe even fix it! Life gets better when you try to make it better :)

As of right now, that is all the news I can think of! Sorry if it's not the most interesting. But hopefully next week I'll have some amazing stories to share!! THANK YOU all for the love and support you give Rachie and I! I love you all!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Love Always, Sister Teresa Kullick
